It is an excellent place for a holiday, a favorite resort for trekkers to Lahaul, Spiti, Bara Bhangal (Kangra), and Zanskar ranges. After the end of British rule in India, Shimla was named the capital of Punjab; later, it became the capital of the state of Himachal Pradesh. Owing to its snow-capped mountains, pleasant climate, serene environment and meandering streets, Shimla is often referred to as the 'Queen of the Hills'. It is located at an elevation of about 2200 m above sea level. Tourists flock this town all across the year from different parts of the country and abroad to witness its natural beauty and enjoy a range of adventure activities on offer. Being an all-weather destination, this hill station is one of the favourite tourist locations of the country. While exploring this beautiful destination, do not miss the chance to visit the famous Mall Road.
